The Enchanted Tiki Room is one of the popular attractions in Disneyland Resort and the Magic Kingdom. This captivating room plays host to a musical performance by fascinating Hawaiian birds and flowers. Though the Room is 50 years old, don’t discount the fact it can entertain any modern family. Although there are a lot of exciting and mesmerizing attractions in Disneyland, the Enchanted Tiki room is in a class of its own. Walt Disney first made use of Audio-animatronics in the Enchanted Tiki Room. The show was a technological marvel when it was first launched. Using state-of-the-art technology, Walt Disney and his fellow imagineers were able to give the characters in the room ‘the breath of life.’ Although characters featured in previous Disney attractions were able to perform simple movements like waving of their hands and turning of their heads, the characters in the Tiki Room show are able to perform a series of complex movements in synchronization with the soundtracks of the show. The characters of the Enchanted Room show were the first true audio-animatronics.
The Enchanted Tiki Room is the first fully air-conditioned room in Disneyland Resort. This enthralling room adds a touch of Polynesian flavor to Disneyland Resort. In this room, guests will enjoy the a cool, relaxing breeze caressing their skin as they sip a tasty beverage from coconut shell or consume some fresh pineapples. Guests will definitely have a great time while being captivated by the magical effects of the Enchanted Room show.
The Sunshine Pavilion, a 9-tiered tower in the center of the park, is the home of the Enchanted Tiki Room. Upon arrival at the venue of the show, guests are welcomed by talking tiki statues. Each talking tiki statue represents a Polynesian god. After guests have been welcomed by the talking tiki statues, the doors of the room are opened for guests to come in. One all the guests are comfortably seated, a cast member will kick off the show by tapping Jose’s perch with a bamboo stick. A lucky guest might be asked to do the honor of kicking off the show.
A rendition of the song “Tiki Tiki Tiki Room” by the beautiful birds and flowers is the first performance of the show. At the end of this performance, the fountain opens up, revealing a singing group of beautiful cockatoos. The choral group of beautiful cockatoos performs the song “Let’s All Sing Like the Birdies Song.” Next, guests will be entertained with the “Hawaiian War Chant” performed by the tiki carvings. Funny enough, this song was written as a love song, not as a war song. The rendition of the “Hawaiian War Chant” is accompanied by thunder, lightning, and heavy rainfall.
The show is brought to an end with the host birds offering to show the audience a magic trick that will the audience disappear. As the guests leave the Enchanted Tiki Room, the host birds sing a modified version of the song “Heigh Ho: it is out the door you go.”
