Disneyland’s Main Street, U.S.A.

With your admission tickets in hand, you and your excited children walk through the gates of Disneyland and into a land of mystery and adventure.  But what is the first thing that you see?  Why Main Street, U.S.A. of course.

The History of Main Street, U.S.A.

Based on Walt Disney’s hometown; Marceline Missouri, this introduction to Disneyland is a charming reconstruction of a 1910 middle American town complete with gas lights lining a wide main street, old fashioned houses, a courthouse, fire station, opera house, town square, fountain and businesses that are made up to look as they did once upon a time in an America far away.

This entire street was made by Walt Disney himself as a monument to the America that once was; to the simplicity and basic values that America was built on.  Here you find architecture based on days gone by

Today the buildings on Main Street house the Guest Relations office as well as many of the administrative office for the park as well as a first aid station and other types of things that guests may need such as cameras, film, batteries, sun block, hats and the like.  Guests are also given the opportunity to take pictures as a group to remember their trip to the park before they have gotten too tired and drained from hours in the sun.

A Glimpse of Main Street Magic

Main Street, U.S.A. is more than simply an entrance to a theme park.  It is also the place where many of Disney’s community activities take place.  From parades to jazz and brass bands to impromptu ballroom dancing and appearances by some of Disney’s most famous characters, Main Street is the place where you leave your everyday mindset and worries behind and enter a magical kingdom where anything that you can imagine or dream can come true.

As charming as Main Street, U.S.A. is, however, you need to resist the urge to remain and soak up the sun, for not far from where you are standing there is a world of mystery and adventure just waiting to be discovered.

At the end of Main Street, U.S.A., however, is where the true magic of Disney begins, for at the end of the street lies not a monument or a church or a playground, but Sleeping Beauty’s Castle; the point at which you enter the true fantasy world of Disneyland.  Beyond the castle lie Tomorrowland, Fantasyland and all the other Disney neighborhoods where the impossible and improbably become a reality.
