The Adventure Continues in the New Star Tours Ride
The original Star Tours ride was a major attraction that brought millions of Star Wars fans into Disneyland over its 24 year lifespan. A major update to this much celebrated ride has been rolled out over the last couple of years.
Star Tours: The Adventure Continues is a high definition 3D motion simulator that has replaced the outdated first version in most Disneyland locations. It is now a truly modern experience that is bound to surprise and entertain visitors from across the world.
The ride is centred on a shuttle journey piloted by C3PO and R2D2, and you can expect plenty of banter between the two droids along the way.
As soon as you step into the revamped motion simulator you will notice the large HD monitor that serves as your view port into the vast galaxy, and the surround sound and Dolby 3D visuals which will bring it all too life. You can look forward to hearing from C3PO throughout the ride voiced excellently by the talented Anthony Daniels.
This new ride is set some time between the two movie trilogies and you should expect plenty of familiar faces in your travel through the galaxy. Locations include Hoth, Coruscant, Naboo, Kashyyk, Naboo and the Death star. Each ride will take you to two of these potential destinations. Major characters you might come across will include the likes of Darth Vader, Yoda, Boba Fett and Chewbacca. Whether you admire the Jedi, or just can’t get enough of bounty hunters, this ride is bound to satisfy even the most rabid Star Wars fans out there.
This is no stale and static experience either. Not only is action and combat a real possibility, you will be kept on your toes with the multiple beginning and ending sequences. In total you could go on the Star Tours over 50 times and the experience will be different in each visit.
Strap yourself into the simulator, and the next fours and a half minutes will be a bumpy visual feast for the eyes. The 3D effect is used well to put you in the middle of the action, and all the new characters and locations are a welcome addition. Overall, it has a similar vibe to its predecessor, but with a much needed modern redesign.
To make the most of your visit, a Disney Park Hopper pass will give you a lot of flexibility in your schedule. It is quite cheap to add this option to your Disneyland ticket package, and it is worth a purchase particularly when you are short on time. Enjoy the new Star Tours ride to the fullest and squeeze in as much as possible by using the Park Hopper to enter multiple parks in the same day.
Now that the Star Wars brand is owned by Disney, the new Star Tours is an even more authentic experience that shouldn’t be missed by anyone interested in Star Wars or just good entertainment.
